Inference 

This is the process of differentiating between degrees of truth or falsity of inferences from provided data. You will be presented with a statement and many potential conclusions in these questions. You must determine whether an inference is true or false.

Sample Question:

A report states that the population of a certain city has increased by 5% in the last year.

Statement: The city's economy is growing.

A. True

B. Probably True

C. Insufficient Data

D. Probably False

E. False

Correct Answer: B 

Explanation: The correct answer would be "Probably True", as an increase in population is often associated with an increase in economic activity. However, without more information, it cannot be said for certain that the city's economy is growing.

Recognition of Assumptions

The Assumption section assesses your ability to identify unstated assumptions and evaluate their relevance and accuracy. In this section, a statement is presented, and you are asked to choose the response that most accurately reflects the underlying premises.

Passage: A recent survey found that 80% of adults in the city prefer to use public transportation over driving their own cars.

Statement: The majority of adults in the city prefer to use public transportation.

B. Assumption not made

Correct Answer: A. Assumption Made

Explanation: The statement is assuming that the majority of adults in the city prefer to use public transportation, based on the information provided in the passage that 80% of adults prefer public transportation over driving their own cars.

Deduction

The deduction section measures your ability to reason logically and draw valid conclusions from given information. You’ll be presented with a statement and a set of conditions, and your task is to choose the response that most accurately captures what can be inferred from the statement and the conditions.

All dogs are mammals.

All mammals have hair.

Conclusion: All dogs have hair.

The Evaluation of Arguments assesses your ability to evaluate the logic, relevance, and credibility of an argument and identify any fallacies or flaws in reasoning. This section presents an argument and asks you to select the option that best describes the strengths and weaknesses of the argument.

The government has implemented a new policy to reduce the number of traffic accidents.

 Argument: This policy will lead to a significant reduction in the number of traffic accidents.

A. Strong Argument

B. Weak Argument

Correct Answer: B
